The geographical conditions of Waghi Valley of the Western Highlands Region of Papua New Guinea (PNG) is nearly ideal for coffee plantation with abundant rainfall and drained volcanic soil. The Sigri Plantation at PNG are exclusively Arabica, concentrating on the Typica variety which originated from the Jamaica Blue Mountain Typica rootstock. Sigri also consider soil and water condition as a priority and the plantation is sustainable and eco-friendly.
The growing and processing practices follows a system which has been thoroughly proven over many years. Undergoing a rigorous wet factoy process, coffee cherries is first handpicked and carefully checked for uniformity (red and fully ripe) which determines the correct balance of sugar and acid. On top of the common practice of fermentation, Sigri follows it by total immersion in water for a further day, which creates an unique flavour profile. Afterwhich, the cherries are sun-dried to further enhance flavour. Careful conditioning, hulling, grading and hand sorting follows to ensure the best quality.
Do note that the coffee will be dispatched in whole beans only, unless stated otherwise.
